Step 3-Bath cleaning process

Today we will cover step 3 of the process for cleaning a bathroom.  Let’s review first.  In step 1 there are 2 actions.  First, bring your supplies caddy, long duster, vacuum cleaner and apron, if not on, and place them just outside the door.  Second, gather the trash can and rugs and place them just outside the door next to the supplies you put there.  Step 2 is long dusting.

And today we discuss step 3, vacuuming.  If you remember after completing step 2 you put your long duster just outside the door and you want to pick up your vacuum cleaner and vacuum any hair out of the sinks, tub,  shower and vacuum the floor.  This step can only be performed in dry areas.  If the shower has hair but was recently used you cannot vacuum that area but you can do the remainder of the bath.  How you perform this task and which vacuum to use should be documented in your procedural manual.  For process we just want our trainees to know the 3rd step is vacuuming where it is dry.

This is the perfect time to vacuum.  Hair gets stuck on microfiber towels but still seems to fall off leaving you constantly battling hair.  Get it out of there.  Also, the fastest way to rinse a shower area is to not worry about getting the floors wet.  Really, the wetter the better.  You have to mop it anyway or in small baths clean them on your hands and knees.  Who cares if the floors are wet unless you still need to vacuum them and, sadly, if you are still using a broom that doesn’t work well when floors are wet either.  You’ve knocked the dust down.  There will be little more falling on the floor and you can catch that when you wipe the floor.
